Openings and closings: Oceana opens, Indian Newsstand closes

La Crêpe Parisienne opened in Soho yesterday at 51 Spring Street near Lafayette Street. St. Marks Burger is slated to open at 33 St. Marks Place. Modern British restaurant Silkstone is coming to the Lower East Side at 17 Orchard Street  Sushi Samba may open in the former Merkato55 space at 55 Gansevoort Street. Italian restaurant and wine bar SD26 opened yesterday at 19 East 26th Street. Baja Fresh is slated to open on Monday at Broadway and 41st Street. Restaurant Oceana opened yesterday in the McGraw Hill Building at 1221 Sixth Avenue at 49th Street. Mexican restaurant Hecho en Dumbo has moved to 354 Bowery in the former Marion’s space.

In Brooklyn, Life Café has opened at 983 Flushing Avenue in Bushwick and the Vanderbilt is looking to open during the first week of October in Prospect Heights. An organic coffee shop will open in Crown Heights at Franklin Avenue and St. John’s Street. Vertucci’s Brick Oven Pizza will open at 232 North 12th Street in Williamsburg.

Amid these openings, there have been some closings. Restaurant Chinatown Brasserie on Great Jones and Lafayette streets in Noho will move into the basement and Serge Becker will assume ownership. Coffee spot Simon Sips on 72 East 1st Street has shuttered. It will be replaced by another coffee shop. Whole Earth Bakery and Kitchen at 130 St. Marks Place is still shuttered after closing temporarily for renovations. Soho eatery Tailer at 525 Broome Street is still shuttered after a three-month summer closure. Vegan and green boutique Gomi on 443 East 6th Street has shuttered and a Vietnamese sandwich shop will open in its space.

On the Upper West Side, tipsters report that Ollie’s on 84th Street and Broadway has shuttered, but someone at the restaurant told The Real Deal that the Chinese eatery is temporarily closed for renovations. Indian Newsstand eatery has shuttered on Sixth Avenue between 37th and 38th streets.

In Brooklyn, Trunzo Brothers Meat Market and Salumeria has shuttered at 6802 18th Avenue in Bensonhurst. And in Queens, furniture store Sukon’s has closed at 13521 Crossbay Boulevard in Ozone Park.
