Despite nabe’s lack of services, residential real estate booms near MetroTech Center

There is a residential “boomlet,” happening around Downtown Brooklyn’s MetroTech Center, the New York Post reported.Despite the lack of amenities, high-rises in the area are offering amazing views at affordable rents, the Post said.

“We’re kind of a 10-minute walk to everything — in the middle of nowhere,” said Janice Behrens, who lives at Belltel Lofts, at 365 Bridge Street near Willoughby Street.

But proximity to the subway has bolstered the neighborhood’s residential sector, despite the fact that “finding a grocery store or a dry cleaner requires effort,” the Post said.

“It’s not just one subway line [here]; there are half a dozen at your fingertips,” said Brian Collins, vice president at Equity Residential, which owns the Brooklyner, at 111 Lawrence Street, between Willoughby and Myrtle. “There’s access to any part of the city easily.” [Post]
