An investment group led by Alchemy Properties, which closed on 233 Broadway‘s top floors in a $68 million deal in 2012, is heading up the conversion, which will house 34 one- to four-bedroom apartments, topped by a five-story penthouse at the top of the building. Prices will be around $3,000 per square foot, according to Curbed, and sales are slated to kick off in the second quarter of 2014.

Alchemy and its associates purchased the upper-floor spread from a partnership of the Witkoff Group and Cammeby’s International, which continues to lease the bottom 28 floors of the building as offices. Witkoff and Cammeby’s, led by Steve Witkoff and Ruby Schron, respectively, purchased the entire building for $137.5 million in 1998. [Curbed]Julie Strickland
