UPDATED Sept. 2, 2021, 7:45 p.m.: Prepare the bubbly: The West Village is on the verge of its biggest townhouse sale this year.

A townhouse at 30 Grove Street asking $28 million is in contract. If the deal closes at that price, it would be the neighborhood’s most expensive home sale this year, according to the New York Post.

The area has seen some recent big-ticket sales. In May, a townhouse at 159 West 12th Street closed for $19.75 million. But for larger townhouse deals you have to go back a bit, like when 777 Washington Street sold for $34 million in 2008. Or when 802 Greenwich Street fetched $42.5 million in 2014. Or when 85-89 Jane Street sold for $32.5 million.

It doesn’t appear the Grove Street townhouse was on the market for long. According to Streeteasy, the property was listed on July 2 before entering into contract on August 25.

The home was renovated over the course of six years, with Mariette and Brooke Gomez overseeing the redesign of the 5,800-square-foot property, the Post reported. It includes a patio with a private garden and what’s touted as a “state-of-the-art” rooftop garden, which might be unique in the neighborhood.

Correction: An earlier version of this story said 30 Grove Street was poised to be the highest-priced townhouse sale in West Village history. That is not the case.
