A hillside mansion in Alamo Heights that’s owned by a disgraced San Antonio lawyer has hit the market asking just shy of $4 million.

The 5,790-square-foot home at 555 Argyle Avenue has landed on the market as part of Chris Pettit’s ongoing bankruptcy case, the San Antonio Express-News reported. The home overlooking Olmos Dam is one of the most recognizable houses in the area.

Built in 1986, the mansion was designed by well-known architect Tom Pressley. It has three bedrooms and four levels of outdoor terraces. Fred Hutt with Compass is the listing agent for the home. Floor-to-ceiling arched windows on each level offer “views of the Olmos Dam, Olmos Basin and skyline views of downtown San Antonio,” the listing said.

Pettit and his law firm sought Chapter 11 protection this summer in light of multiple lawsuits claiming they stole millions of dollars from clients. The listing of the home was approved by the court after a trustee in Pettit’s case asked to sell the 0.72-acre property.

Pettit didn’t live in the mansion. He had been leasing it to former Spurs player and current team executive Brent Barry for $11,000 a month.

The home was originally owned by well-known San Antonio philanthropists Joci and Joe Straus. The couple was known for hosting then Vice President George H.W. Bush during his presidential campaign in 1987.

Back in July, a six-bedroom, six-and-a-half bath property, which sits on a gated six-acre lot, hit the market for just under $6 million — reportedly the priciest listing in San Antonio. The last time 108 Blackhawk Trail hit the market in 2015, it was listed at just a little over $1 million, signifying a 600 percent price markup.
