Big Easy Ranch opens 80 sites for luxury homes

Four custom home builders have been selected to build the residences

The Big Easy Ranch, on 2,000 acres between Houston and Austin, will have 80 luxury homes.

Louisiana native Billy Brown transformed his 2,000-acre personal ranch into a members-only community and golf club after selling his company, Blackhawk Specialty Tools, in 2014, the Houston Business Journal reported. In addition to building an 18-hole championship golf course, the Covey, Brown is now offering a few real estate opportunities in a two-phase residential development on the property.

The ranch in Colorado County has space for 80 estate homesites and shared-ownership villas, each about one acre, with views of lakes, creeks and waterfalls. The homes must meet guidelines set by the ranch’s architect, Brickmoon Design, and be at least 3,000 square feet.

Partners In Building, Leitch Properties, MayBuilt and Metropolitan Custom Homes have been selected to design and build the houses, which will be priced starting at $850,000.

The villas will be offered as quarter-share ownerships. Those houses will be fully furnished with upscale ranch home décor and have two primary bedrooms. Each will also have a guest bedroom, study and bunk room.

“This is the perfect second home,” Brown told the outlet.

Membership to Big Easy Ranch, which requires an invitation and sponsorship of a current member, includes access to the ranch’s hunting grounds, sporting facilities and amenities, such as a pool and recreational lakes. The Covery golf course is set to have a grand opening in spring 2023.
