Nobu Hotel set to open soon in Fulton Market

The long-awaited Nobu Hotel is set to debut this summer in Fulton Market. The chain co-owned by actor Robert De Niro first announced plans for the 119-key hotel at 854 West Randolph Street in 2014, but construction didn’t start until months after a groundbreaking brought De Niro to the neighborhood in June 2016. Work temporarily came to a halt in December 2017 while the developers sought financing, but several people affiliated with the project said progress is being made that the opening would be in the next few months. Lou Malnati’s owners selling condo

The owners of the Lou Malnati’s pizza empire are selling their West Loop condo. Marc and Jeanne Malnati are seeking $1.8 million for the 3,800-square-foot unit on West Adams Street. Brian Moon and Peter Howell of Keller Williams Chicago-Lincoln Park have the listing. The Malnatis, third-generation owners of the pizza chain, bought the condo in 2012 for $943,000. They bought another condo on North State Parkway last year for $3 million. [Crain’s]

D.R. Horton plans Wheeling townhome development

D.R. Horton wants to build 71 townhouses on vacant land on the northeast side of Wheeling. The national homebuilder plans to group the units in 13 buildings on 7.3 acres west of the Prairie Park condominiums. Horton received an initial OK for the subdivision from village officials, and will now submit formal plans for the project. [Daily Herald]

Fulton Market facelift continues

City officials launched the next phase of a $20 million streetscape project in Fulton Market as the neighborhood continues its transformation from a hub of meatpacking and food-supply firms to a trendy office and hospitality district. The next phase will run west to Ogden Avenue from Carpenter Street, where phase one ended. Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of the year. [Curbed]

Developer wants replace old Mundelein village hall with mixed-use building

A Mundelein developer wants to tear down the town’s old village hall and replace it with a mixed-use project. Midwest Masonry president Frank Dziadus plans a two-story, 23,000-square-foot building at 440 East Hawley Street with offices, stores and restaurants. The village moved into a new village hall in 2014, and the old building has been mostly unused since. [Daily Herald]
