Movers & Shakers: Odevo Names Paul Kaplan US CEO

Global firms announced new South Florida leadership in the latest roundup of real estate hiring news in the tri-county region.

The Swedish property management firm Odevo Group named Paul Kaplan as CEO for the U.S., according to a press release. Odevo expanded into South Florida in September 2022 with the acquisition of KW Property Management & Consulting, which Kaplan co-founded. It also owns Spectrum AM and William Douglas in the U.S. and manages more than 400,000 homes, according to the release.

In his new role with Odevo, Kaplan will spearhead the firm’s plans for more growth across American markets, the release shows. He will remain based in Miami.

Also in Miami, Leste Group, a global alternative investment manager, announced four executives are joining its senior team, a press release shows. Leste named Eduardo Karrer and Fabricio Bossle as partners who will oversee the firm’s private equity strategy for North America. Prior to Leste, Karrer was a partner at Cia Positiva de Energia, and Bossle was a managing director at Ascensus Group. 

Mark Hong is joining the firm as a partner overseeing Leste’s net leasing strategy. He previously worked as EVP and CIO at MS Transverse Insurance Group, the release shows.

Leste tapped Haaris Lali as managing director of real estate credit. In his role, Lali will develop business for the Leste Credit Opportunity Fund, the release shows. He was most recently head of business development for Stabilis Capital Management in New York City.

In Dania Beach, the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA) hired Eyla Herrera as director of marketing, according to a press release. She was previously marketing manager for Vonn Lighting. As marketing director for DCOTA, Herrera will lead all digital, print and broadcast marketing for the showrooms, according to the release.

The announcement follows DCOTA hiring Jorge Berrios as director of design services last month.

Commercial brokerage Lee & Associates added C. Todd Everett as a principal in its Deerfield Beach office, a press release shows. Everett was previously a first vice president with Marcus & Millichap, where he worked for more than a decade.

He specializes in office and industrial investment sales and leasing, and has closed more than $650 million in career deals, the release shows.

Residential brokerage the Keyes Company added Luis Alvarez to its Sunset Drive office in Miami, according to a press release. He closes an average annual sales volume of $10 million, the release shows. Alvarez was previously with Jeanne Baker Realty, and focuses on luxury homes, vacant land and commercial properties.
