Tax break could lure NY manufacturer to North Texas

The Mansfield City Council has scheduled a Dec. 12 vote on an incentive package to lure regional HQ

A New York-based manufacturer of windows and doors is hitting up the City of Mansfield, south of Dallas, for a tax break to build a $136.8 million regional headquarters.

Crystal Window and Door Systems is considering building offices and a manufacturing plant on 44 acres the city owns west of U.S. Highway 287, according to the Dallas Business Journal.

Crystal Window and Door Systems, which employs about 800 people, mainly manufactures out of its base in Queens, New York, and sites in Pennsylvania, Illinois, California and Missouri, according to its website.

The company would commit to building a corporate regional headquarters and an advanced manufacturing plant producing commercial and residential windows and doors.

The potential tax abatement agreement is set to go before the Mansfield City Council during its meeting on Dec. 12. Details of the agreement weren’t listed in the meeting agenda.

Mansfield is triangulated south of Dallas and Fort Worth, stradling Tarrant, Ellis and Johnson counties.


In September, the City of Mansfield received a proposal for a $50 million multifamily project. Though it was expected to break ground in October, the mystery developer has yet to be revealed. Overall, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is the undisputed leader in industrial construction with nearly 67 million square feet of industrial space under construction in October.
