Historic Palo Pinto ranch listed for $15M

A historic North Texas ranch is up for grabs.

The 2,500-acre Long Ranch, located about an hour west of Fort Worth in Palo Pinto County, has a price tag of nearly $14.7 million, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Matt Milligan of Trinity Country Real Estate is the listing agent, representing property owner David Weidner.

The Long Ranch has been owned by the Weidner family since the Great Depression. At one point in the 1940s, it spanned 28,000 acres and was home to about 20 cowboys.

The site features views of Lake Palo Pinto, seven ponds, natural gas wells and an expansive network of dirt roads that allow for hiking and horseback riding. There’s also an abundance of wildlife, including deer, turkey, dove, geese, ducks, fish and wild boar. 

“As my kids were growing up in Houston, we would come back home to mom and dad and go out on the property and have campfires and picnics and fish and all of that,” Weidner told the outlet. “It was a great place to get away for the weekend or come for a week or two in the summer.”

Ranch listings are often some of the priciest in Texas. Elsewhere in Palo Pinto County, the 546-acre Possum Kingdom Ranch was listed for $10 million in July. A 2,500-acre family ranch in Erath County, located about two hours southwest of Dallas, hit the market at $16 million in March.
